New Policies for Trading, Buying, and Selling on SportsCollectors.Net Wednesday, January 16, 2008 Posted by jaygross Comments: 0
We are instituting the following procedures in an effort to encourage more trading, make trading on this site smoother, and to better protect our members:
- Trade Manager.
All trades, purchases, and sales that take place on this site should be recorded in the Trade Manager. It takes roughly 60 seconds to offer a trade and it creates a lasting record for agreed upon trades. More importantly, it allows you receive and leave feedback regarding the other participant.
- New traders send items first
Traders with feedback scores of 3 or less need to send their end of the trade first when dealing with members with scores of 4 or more. This is done to better alleviate concerns that new traders will fulfill their trade commitments until they are able to earn feedback.
Feedback scores on other sites (such as eBay or other trading forums) are nice to have as a reference, but will not be taken into account.
- Timely sending of items
If you agree to a trade, we ask that you send the items no more than 7 days later (unless previous arrangements are agreed upon by other party). For veteran traders dealing with new traders, we ask that you wait no longer than 7 days to send your part after you receive your items.
- Leave Feedback
This is not a rule, but certainly a best practice. Leaving (positive or negative) is the best way to build reputation for someone. Your experiences will help others decide whether to make a deal with a member in the future.
- Ask for Scans of Autographs
This is not a rule, but a strong suggestion. Asking to see what an item looks like before agreeing to trade for it will often prevent problems that occur with expectations around authenticity and quality.
- Bad Traders
If any users with have -2 feedback score will be subject to our site discipline procedures and likely face suspension of interactive privilieges (including PMs, chat, posting on the message board, listing trade items). At this time, no member has a score this low, and we hope that having the “new traders send first” rule will ensure we do not have this scenario.
- Listing your Trade Items on SCN
While it is encouraged and makes trading more convenient, it is certainly not required. Members can propose trades using the Trade Manager with having any trade items listed on this site.
I would like to be clear that trading on SportsCollectors.Net has been exceptionally positive since we implemented the Trade Manager. I checked the feedback counts left by members and we had 2200 positives and only 10 negatives - that’s over a 99% positive response. The goal of implementing these new procedures is to encourage more trade activity and to strive to improve the overall enjoyment of trading on SCN.
