Groups for Request Tracking... Sunday, December 2, 2007 Posted by jaygross Comments: 2
Last week I promised some new features, well here is the first upgrade...
For those members with hundreds or thousands of successes (and there's a lot of people like this), I'm sure it might have be frustrating trying to find successes with only having the ability to categorize and filter by a player's name.
So today we add groups to the SCN request tracking. Creating Groups will allow all (premium and basic) members to categorize their successes.
This will be great for folks collecting autographed sets, working on multiplayer projects, and in person collectors.
You may notice a few upgrades on the Search My Requests screen (shown above:
- We have significantly improved the performance of this section.
- The count of the number of requests found for the search (2307 in this example).
- The search form at the top has been reorganized into 2 columns to take up less space.
- A Groups filter has been added to the search criteria.
- A checkbox has been added in front of each request.
Creating, Editing, and Deleting Groups
There is now a "Manage Groups" link on the left column, which can click on to view the Manage Groups screen (below).
Here we see the groups created for this account. Each group has the group name, number of requests, number of successes, number of failures, and the success percentage. If we click on the name of the group, we will see a search with only the requests in the group.
To add a new group, enter the group name in the form and click on the "Add Group" button.
To edit a group name, click on the "edit" link and you will be taken to the edit group screen below:
Changing the Group for Requests
There are two ways to change the group for a request:
1) Edit the individual request (click on the edit link on the search results screen) and select a new group.
We now have the option to specifiy a group for the request. This is a new feature that allows members to categorize our requests. In this example we are adding this request to the "Baseball HOFers" group. We will see how to create and manage groups in a bit.
2) Check the checkbox for the request, and click the "Change Group for Selected Items" button (show below).
We can click on the "Manage Groups" link on the left column to view the Manage Groups screen (below).
If we have created at least one group, the window will appear where we can choose the group to assign those requests to. We chose a group from the pulldown list and click the "Change Group" button, which will associate the selected requests to be part of the group.
I have also added a new page that walks you through using the request tracking on SCN. So if you aren't yet tracking your successes on SCN, please check it out and give it a try. We always encourage members to share with the community, as all the information in the Sigs By Mail and Address Bank comes directly from members tracking their requests.
This great new enhancement is something I know I will be using all the time, and I hope you all like it. As always, I want your feedback. Please tell me what you think of this and let me know what else you'd like to se - please send it here.
This came as a direct result of one of our member's suggestions - thanks C. Will be starting on the next feature upgrade today...
