At the end of 2010, we made an enhancement to the trading manager that allowed members to specify the type of deal they were making (Trade, Buy, Sell, Private Signing, 50-50/Consignment). So far it has worked out pretty well and we'll soon be making a slew of further enhancements to tracking your deals.
I spend quite a bit of time analyzing site data to understand what is working best on the site and help us decide what features to build next. I thought it would be interesting to share some stats around trading on SCN for the month of January 2011:
Total January Confirmed Trades: 1986
January Confirmed Trades with feedback: 1063 (53%)
January Confirmed Trades Feedback Breakdown:
Positive: 1783
Neutral: 1
Negative: 1
A little bit of explanation about the numbers:
In the month January 2011, there were 1986 deals that were agreed to by both members on SCN. By the beginning of February (the time of this post), more than half of those (53%) had resulting in at least one of those members leaving feedback for the other.
For those 1063 deals with feedback, there were 1785 feedback ratings left. Of those 1785 ratings, 1783 (99.89%) were positive - meaning the overwhelming majority of members making deals and leaving feedback were satisfied. Bravo to the awesome traders and collectors on SCN.
I was a little surprised by the percentage of 50-50/Consignment transactions being so high at 28%. My take is that a good percentage of these deals are related to members getting autographs in Florida and Arizona in the next 6 weeks at Spring Training.
