|Contacting Members about Requests & Successes|

A long while back (in 2000 or 2001), we used to list the member name next to each request. While there was some value seeing what members were getting successes from certain players,it caused a tremndous amount of problems. The feature was discontinued.
As time went on, I realized that this was a terrible idea and it should have been obvious it would cause issues. It is important for eveyone that collectors are encouraged to contribute successes to our community without having to worry about having to hear comments and opinions from others. YOUR PRIVACY IS VERY IMPORTANT!
Since then, many members have asked us to put the member names next to successes so they could ask questions. I knew we needed to find a better solution to accomplish this, and I think we have one.
I have implemented the following solution on a trial basis (the site admins will evaluate it after 90 days and decide whether it is in the best interest of our members to keep it):
On the Latetst Success and Player Search screen, there are Actions buttons added (shown in the red box below):
At the end of each row, there are the following buttons that are now available to make certain functionality easier to access (and require fewer clicks):
- The Star button will add that player to your Favorite Players (premium members only).
- The Pencil and Paper button will bring you to a screen to enter a Through the Maill Request/Success
- The Person button will bring you to a screen to enter a In Person Success
- The Envelope button brings you to a screen where you can send that member a Private Message (premium members only).
The screen below details what you will see when you click the Envelope button to send that member a Private Message:
Before you send any messages, there are some things that you should recognize:
This process is completely anonymous (you do not know who the member is unless they choose to respond). Sending a message does not necessarily mean you will receive a response.
If the member has blocked you, your message will not be delivered.
The following things will result in suspension of privileges. Please don't do these things:
Do not send harassing or critical messages of any kind.
Do not send multiple messages about one request.
This feature is completely optional. You can go to your User Profile, and you can opt-out of this feature. This will mean that you can elect not to receive these messages. The red box in the screen below shows the new addition on this screen.
So we will see how this goes and I look forward to hearing feedback.
